Hull schools quad kids athletics competition at the Costello stadium

[30 Jun 2015]

On the Monday 22nd June, we took some students to take part in the Hull schools quad kids athletics competition at the Costello stadium. The students took part in teams of 8, 4 boys and 4 girls in each. All of them had to complete four events during the day, gaining points for their team as they went through these. The events were 100 metres, 800 metres, long jump and vortex throw.

All students were fantastic in their efforts in each event and put everything they had into to completing all of these to the best of their ability. In the year 8 team Aristides Cunha was the top all round athlete across all schools, including a huge 65 metre vortex which meant the measures had to pull the tape measure out much further than previously needed for the other throwers to ensure it was measured fully! Max Rogers was 3rd, Lewis Holmes 4th and Ellis Clayton 6th. This tremendous effort from the four boys allowed the team to finish 6th overall in the team competition.

In the year 9/10 competition, Jamie Logan was individually 2nd overall with consistently strong performances throughout including excellent 100m and 800m times. Owen Stanley also performed strongly with 12th overall and the rest of the team were very consistent again allowing the team to finish in 6th overall.

A big well done to all of the following participants

Year 8 – Aristides Cunha, Max Rogers, Ellis Clayton, Lewis Holmes, Jola Plusa, Molly Lawrence, Aimie Routh, Jessica Downing

Year 9 – Jamie Logan, Owen Stanley, Henrie Hairsine, Sam Gifford, Corey Lane, Leah Puckering, Cara Lowther, Reanna Hodgins
