West of Hull RL 18 East Riding RL 6

[01 Dec 2016]

Nine boys from Sirius Academy West and four boys from Sirius Academy North were selected for the West of Hull Rugby league team after attending trials in the half term. They played in their first tri-series match last night and ended up beating East Riding 18 – 6.

It was a tough game and a lot closer than the score line suggests with the teams going set for set before a strong run down the right by Joe Kennedy led to a nice handling move and Joe Aitchinson hitting a good line to score out wide.

Jackson Davies Barker started at hooker and lead his team around the field well, strong carries from Harry Kynman, Brandon Sarginson and Max Rodgers in the middle kept then the west of hull team marching forward. Harry Coulbeck was a constant threat at the back with his quick feet making numerous half breaks.

Reece Eccles and Lewis Holmes started on the wings both making great starts with good carries out of yardage with Lewis nearly scoring a full length of the field effort but was tackled short.

Half time 4-0

West of Hull started slow conceding early in the second half

The next try came the shortly after when West of Hull stand out performer Leon Stewart reached over after a nice move by Jack Hassard. Leon’s efforts in defence and attack was outstanding.

Tom Borman came on as loose forward and played good minutes bringing a lot of energy in attack and defence

West of Hull scored again in the left centre after good hands making it 12-6

With 5 minutes left on the clock West of Hull forced an error 10m from their own sticks,
Aristides rounded the whole of the East Riding team raced 90 meters to put the ball down under the sticks.
