Sirius Academy North Dominate

Malet Lambert in Thrilling Encounter

The Year 9 Sirius Academy North football team travelled to Malet Lambert with a squad buzzing for their first taste of the cup competition. The pre-game excitement was evident, with Reece E firing off questions before the team even left the changing room (I reckon 101 question before we had left the OWS).

Sirius North started strong, with Alfie B anchoring the defence, snuffing out any attacking threat from Malet. Their dominance paid off when Harvey raced onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Dyako. Harvey’s blistering pace left the Mallet defense in his dust, allowing him to calmly slot the ball past the goalkeeper for the opening goal.

The lead was quickly doubled thanks to Brandon L’s exquisite left foot. His corner kick found the top corner of the net, leaving the Malet keeper with no chance. Just five minutes later, Brandon was at it again, delivering a pinpoint cross that Dyako rose highest to meet with a powerful header.

Malet threatened a comeback just before half-time when they were awarded a penalty. However, Deacon F rose to the occasion, diving brilliantly to his right and parrying the spot-kick away to keep a clean sheet for North.

The coaches urged the Sirius boys not to get complacent at half-time, and their warnings proved prescient. Malet came out fighting in the second half, but the North defence held firm, with Mason B putting in a particularly impressive shift. Sirius North spurned several chances to extend their lead, with Dyako, Max, and Harvey all failing to convert.

Malet eventually pulled a goal back with a well-worked effort, lofting the ball over Deacon’s outstretched arms. Unfazed, Sirius North regrouped, with Jack E shuffling back to centre back to allow Mason to push into midfield. This tactical switch restored control of the game for North, who continued to threaten the Malet goal.

The final whistle blew on a hard-fought victory for Sirius Academy North. Deacon F was named Man of the Match for his commanding performance in goal, while Alfie B received the award for his masterful reading of the game and rock-solid defending. Overall, it was an outstanding performance by Sirius North against a strong Malet Lambert side.
