Assessment Opportunities
All assessment opportunities for individual subjects are identified as part of individual subject assessment and curriculum planning documents.
Key Stage 3
Forensic Assessment is used across Key Stage 3 and provides a detailed diagnosis of strengths and weaknesses for each student. The assessment will break down knowledge and skills specific to a subject and what has been taught in that year (plus previous years content if in Year 8 or 9). This information is linked directly to practice work for students to complete/revise at home in preparation for their assessment and also further practice to help ensure the key content is learned and stored in students’ long term memory.
All assessments will take place in this format but general assessment will continue to take place in every subject in the classroom throughout the year. The results from the assessment will provide an itemised breakdown which will be tracked for each student and shared with both the student and home. This breakdown can be compared with the class/year group scores which will allow us to identify where students are placed within the incorrect set or band and intervention can be put in place swiftly.
Forensic Assessments for students in Year 7, 8 and 9 will take place on:
Key Stage 4
Students in Key Stage 4 will have regular formative assessment throughout individual subjects throughout Key Stage 4. This will be supplemented by their scheduled controlled assessment, external unitised examinations, coursework and/or synoptic assessment. To support in having a clear understanding of individual student progress and achievement mock examinations are scheduled in all subjects across the academic year.
