Congratulations to our U15 girls football team for beating Newland 5-2 in their first league game!

We had the pleasure of hosting Newland School for Girls in our first 11 aside league game of the school football season. Our U15’s (Year 9 and 10 girls) had requested an 11 aside team this year, and came into the game with plenty of excitement.

After the warm up, the heavens opened and it became a very wet affair against a Newland team who had masses of enthusiasm. SAN started off the better team, early pressure and a great attacking run by Angel O who found Ruby L who slotted home passed the keeper. Newland later equalised with a stunning solo effort.

HT: 1-1

Going into the second half, SAN started to press higher and play the ball forward quicker. Excellent runs forward from Hannah B from centre back troubled the Newland team many times throughout the second half. Great pressure saw Freya M have a shot and take a deflection before hitting the back of the net. Ruby added 2 more goals to her tally soon after to complete her well deserved hat-trick. Newland got a late consolation goal before Freya bagged her second goal of the evening.

An excellent game played with a great attitude by both sets of girls, despite the awful weather. This sets our girls up nicely for their second league game against Kingswood Academy next week!
