8 G&T visit to Helmsley

West meets North….
On Wednesday 15th March, 23 students from Y8 at Sirius West and Sirius North travelled together on a Gifted and Talented trip, to Helmsley in North Yorkshire.
The day provided students with an opportunity to carry out geographical fieldwork and prepare for a mini project analysing data and answering hypotheses about the impacts of tourism, which they will complete in the following weeks. This experience will hopefully support students when they start their GCSEs next year, as fieldwork is a compulsory requirement of the Geography course.
Pupils enjoyed working collaboratively with another school, as well as the fish and pie shop in the market place at Helmsley! A short walk up part of the Cleveland Way enabled students to get a bit of exercise and see a range of animals, who seemed very interested in their visitors.
A good day was had by all. Watch this space for photographs of the next Geography trip….to the Netherlands!
