The students were split into two teams.

Team A were faced with Boulevard Academy, Winifred Holtby, St Mary’s 2, St Mary’s 3 and St Mary’s 4.  The Students got off to a great start with a 3-0 demolition over St Mary’s 2.

The students then faced St Mary’s 3, with both teams showing great defensive skills to avoid being hit with the ball. The match went down to the last game, with Sirius North showing great fire power in attack and winning the match 3 games to 2.

The students then faced Winifred Holtby, in a very heated affair, with both teams showing great attack.  Winifred Holtby came out on top winning 3 games to 2.

The students bounced back with a 3-1 defeat over Boulevard and finished the tournament with a 3-1 win over St Mary’s 1.

The students believed they had done everything possible to progress through to the final. However, after an anxious 5 minutes counting up the points, the results put St Mary’s 1 and Sirius Academy North in tied 2nd place, therefore sending the scores to count back. St Mary’s progressed through to the final with a positive one set score over Sirius Academy North, resulting in the boys finishing in third place.

Team B were faced with Sirius West, Kingswood Academy, St Mary’s 4 and St Mary’s 5. Team B finished with 3 wins and two losses, as a result they finished in 4th place and did not qualify for the finals.

The students were absolutely great and represented the Academy with flying colours.

A massive thank you for Sharron Fieldsend who drove the minibus for us.
