Hull to be first

[03 Jul 2015]

Fantastic News!!!!

After further behind the scenes lobbying and campaigning with the councillors of the City of Hull, I am pleased to say that the resolution for Hull to be Conflict-Free will be approved and passed in Council Chambers on the Thursday 18th June. You should all be so proud, WE DID IT !!!!!!!

We have been asked by the leaders of Hull City Council if we want to be present in chambers when the motion is read and approved ( We already have over 40 councillor votes supporting the resolution, which is why we know it will be passed). The council meeting starts at 10am and finishes at 2pm. We do not know where in the council meeting our resolutions sits. However the opening of the meeting is apparently all pomp and ceremony and will be exciting for the students to watch.

Once the motion is passed, we can leave the chambers, we do not have to wait until the end.

I am putting out press releases today and trying to get some television coverage on the 18th.

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved, without the help and support of the student ambassadors and teachers we would not have achieved what we have achieved.

This is an historic moment for the City of Hull, the first City in not only the UK but also Europe to pass this resolution.
