Old faces, new beginnings

[14 Jun 2015]

It was great to see three ex Yr 11 Thomas Ferens Academy students (Joe Hargreaves, Connor Gooch and Ryan Adamson) visiting the PE department this week for a quick catch up. Mr. Spink ran a quick interview with the three students,to see what they had been up to since they had left, and if the students had any words of advice for our current students.

Here is what they had to say:

 What are you doing now?

Joe: “I am currently studying multi-skills engineering at Hull training.”

Ryan: “I am part of the under 19’s Hull FC scholarship program, I signed my first professional contract in Year 11, whilst I was at Thomas Ferens Academy. I train 5 times a week and I am completing the ACE program, alongside training”

Connor: “I am currently studying multi-skills engineering at Hull training, however, next year I will be studying A-levels at Wyke 6th form College, including; Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.”

How are you finding life after Thomas Ferens Academy

Joe: “I want to be back at Thomas Ferens Academy and I never thought I would be saying that. I wish I was back in Year 11 and we had the opportunities the current Yr 11’s have.”

Ryan: “I am enjoying life playing rugby because this is what I have always wanted to do but I do miss the teachers.”

Connor:  “I am looking forward to starting my new course.”

Best memory from Thomas Ferens Academy

Joe: “Btec sport lessons, I miss those lessons.”

Ryan: “Our rugby trips, especially the mini bus drives.”

Connor: “Seeing all my friends on a day to day basis.”

Advice for students currently at Thomas Ferens Academy.

Joe: “Knuckle down before you get to Year 11, listen to your teachers, they know what they are talking about.”

Ryan: “Enjoy school, it is one of the best times of your life, take every opportunity that is offered in your direction.”

Connor: “Make sure you get good grades and revise in advance, do not leave it until the week before.”
