Operation Encompass

Sirius Academy North is part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between schools and the police that supports children who may have been exposed to domestic abuse. Through this initiative, the police will notify the school, before the start of the next school day, when a child has been present at, witnessed, or been affected by a domestic abuse incident.

This information is shared confidentially and allows us to provide appropriate support to the child during the school day. The wellbeing, safety, and welfare of our pupils are always our highest priorities.

At our school, trained staff known as Key Adults receive and manage Operation Encompass notifications. They ensure that any support offered is sensitive, discreet, and tailored to the needs of the child.

Operation Encompass does not replace existing safeguarding procedures. Instead, it strengthens the support available to children and helps us work together with families and partner agencies to promote children’s safety and wellbeing.
