PGL Humanities Revision Weekend: 26-28th May

[05 Jun 2017]

After a tough half term and an English Literature exam on the morning, on Friday 26th May, twenty eight Year 11s headed to Caythorpe Court, Lincolnshire to embark on an action packed revision and activity weekend with PGL.

On the first evening students settled into their cabins and went for tea, before doing a team challenge around the site. Saturday morning saw students in the classrooms doing three hours of either history or geography revision, exam practice and case studies.

After a hearty lunch, students participated in quad biking and archery, with Owen Kirke getting the prize for being a speed demon and bringing up plenty of mud and dust, as he sped past the paparazzi (Miss Blanchard!). Toasting marshmallows and singing songs around a campfire was a particular favourite activity of the group on Saturday night and students were tired after a busy day.

Sunday morning involved a full English breakfast to get everyone started and then back in the classrooms for another three hours of exam practice and revision. The activities of the afternoon were Jacobs Ladder (climbing- eek!) and orienteering and pupils were pleased for a break from the study books! Miss Blanchard and Miss Lewis got to rung five and Mr Carvill had a wardrobe malfunction (split his shorts) so had to come down!

After a busy weekend, the minibuses headed back to Hull, and students really got a great deal out of spending extra time with some of the Humanities staff.
