Sirius Academy North 4 Kingswood 32

Sirius Academy North Year 7 Rugby Boys lost out to a strong Kingswood Academy side; however, the boys can be extremely proud of their performance, they have improved massively since their first game and even managed to get over for their first try of the season. The game was played with great respect and sportsmanship by both sides (see photo of both teams together).

Kingswood had some intelligent rugby players who managed to put their big, strong, speedy players through gaps. But Sirius managed to keep them out for many sets of six, showing real improvements in defence. In attack however, we still lacked a bit of communication and ended up dropping the ball in dangerous areas, which Kingswood capitalised on, contributing to their 6 tries in total during the match. Sirius showed great character and resilience, as they never gave up and in the final few minutes of the game they managed to go over for a try of their own, which was celebrated by all. The try came about after a smart grubber kick through from the impressive Nolan, who followed up his own kick and dived onto the ball in the in-goal area. Special mentions to Blane, who worked tirelessly throughout, with some well-timed scoots and brave defence.  Also, Riley, who made some superb one on one tackles to prevent Kingswood going over for more tries.

Please congratulate the squad on their improvements over the last few weeks, their hard work in training and also managing to get over for their first try of the season:-
