Y9 Football success – 14th Jan 2016

[14 Jan 2016]

Tonight was the last Hull Schools competition of 2015 as 6 six year 9 boys went across to compete in the 5 a side tournament against 12 other schools.

They looked resplendent in their new Sirius Academy North football kit (see attached picture!) and were feeling confident as we began.

In our pool were St Mary’s A, Kingswood and Kelvin B. First up was to be our toughest pool match against St Mary’s. A hard fought game saw us come out 3-2 victors and this was followed up by solid wins 3-1 against Kingswood and 4-1 against Kelvin. This saw us progress through as group winners into the semi finals.

The semi final was against Winifred Holtby. Another tough game with chances being made at both ends but a lovely team move was finished by Aristides to ensure we moved into the final (1-0) of the competition against some other Academy with a similar name to ours……..

The final was fiercely competitive with tough tackling by both teams, but our pressure told and we managed to take a 2-0 lead through good finishes from Alex Montague and Ellis Clayton. Kieron Beet pulled off some great saves to maintain our lead and although Sirius West got a late goal, we held on for a 2-1 win and were overall winners of the competition.

The boys were excellent throughout and deserved there success, maintaining a 100% win record.

Please congratulate the boys when you see them
