Year 10 & 11 Girls Football Success!

[23 Oct 2025]
Last night, I took the Year 10 and 11 Girls Football team across to St Mary’s for their football league fixture. The girls went unbeaten last year and therefore were rewarded with promotion to play a higher opposition this year.
The game started with both teams seeing a lot of the ball in the middle of the pitch. St Mary’s as expected, started to take a hold of the game and scored 2 well taken goals that goal keeper Vicky M could not do much about. The centre back pairing of Angel O and Amira D stopped many other attacking runs to help keep the score to just 2 goals. Ruby LG, Freya M and Tia B linked up well upfront to cause St Mary’s some issues, but nothing pivotal enough to get that first goal.
HT: St Mary’s 2-0 Sirius North
The second half saw gaps opening due to tiredness and a huge pitch that both teams had to contend with. Grace C, Megan W, Emily M, Tiffany BH and Rosie T put in some great tackles during their stints at full back in the second period. Chloe G found herself in some great positions out wide, relentlessly running up and down to help her team. However an experienced St Mary’s team were able to score 2 more to put the game to bed. Regardless of the score, Vicky M made some outstanding saves to prevent St Mary’s from scoring anymore.
FT: St Mary’s 4-0 Sirius North
Player of the match went to Hannah B in the middle of the park. As expected, she was relentless in her running covering so much ground throughout the game. Causing St Mary’s lots of problems, she was able to take on multiple players to create a number of goal scoring opportunities for her team. She was deserving of a goal, but it was not meant to be today. Nevertheless, an outstanding performance.
The girls played very well.
