Year 7 Boys RL Champions!
After winning the Hull KR ‘Inspired by 9s’ Tournament earlier this month, the Year 7 Sirius Academy North Boys represented Hull in the National Competition at Warrington last Thursday and came out well deserved Champions – going unbeaten all day in the competition, making them the best School Team in the Country and 9 a-side rugby league. A huge achievement for them and the Academy.
The hard working Year 7 Boys managed to top their group with victories over Hexham Middle, Wright Robinson and Outwood Grange. Scoring some outstanding team tries by Blane B, Nolan L, Jack M, Harvey R, Kayden S and Mason C. This meant that the boys would now play in the top league, in a round robin to see who would be crowned champions. Sirius took on St John Fisher first, and managed to win the game 12 – 10, scoring two tries in the 6 point box, which ended up being the difference. Sirius knew they needed to beat Rainhill to be crowned champions, and they defeated them in style, scoring four tries without response in probably their best performance for the Academy in attack and defence. The boys celebrated their victory, and their new title of National ‘Inspired by 9s’ Champions. Captain Nolan L enjoyed the build up to lifting the trophy, as the boys left the competition with big smiles on their faces.
It was an extremely long day for the boys, and we were extremely proud of them for not only their success on the pitch, but their outstanding behaviour, respect and teamwork throughout the full day. They were an absolute credit to the Academy and deserve a massive amount of praise:-
Nolan L, Jack M, Mason C, Haydon B, Samuel R, Finley O, Nolan L, Kayden S, Blane B, Harvey R, Harrison C, Jacob P, Kasper P, Archie M and Warren S.
Player of the tournament for their attack work and organisational skills was captain Nolan L. Player of the tournament for their outstanding defence work went to Jacob P.
Special thanks to all the parents that travelled across to watch the tournament. A massive thank you to Mr Hayes for his support with the team at both competitions.
Many Thanks.
