Year 7 Football – 21 Oct 2015
Please congratulate our Year 7 Boys Football players. They pulled off a very impressive 8-4 win against Boulevard tonight.
Sam Miles scored 5, Tom Downing, Lewis Bartle and Josh Russell also got on the score sheet but it was a a great team effort from all 16 squad members (yes, everyone got some playing time). After taking an early lead we went behind 2-1 before re-finding our rhythm and finishing the first half 3-2 ahead.
The second half was all one way traffic as we soared into an 8-2 lead allowing us to experiment with new players and ensure everyone got some well deserved time on the field.

The boys played with great spirit and respect for the opposition, each other and the referee. This is perhaps more pleasing than the win as many young footballers appear to emulate the preening, petulant, overpaid superstars of the Premier League…but ours are learning to appreciate playing for the right reasons…fun and having a good team spirit.
Having said that, a couple of players were kept out of the team today for disciplinary reasons (detention / isolation). They have all been told that they may lose their place if they do not behave in school so please let me know if any of them are giving you any trouble and we can use this to perhaps improve their attitude.
