Year 8 Cup match 29/03/2023
Sirius Academy North vs St Mary’s
Wednesday evening was the opportunity for the year 8 boys to progress further in the cup competition. To be able to progress they were up against tough opposition that was St Marys. SAN made an impressing start on the high press, making sure St Mary’s didn’t have much possession on the ball. That pressure was then rewarded with a brilliant effort from Jayden after a well-read interception allowed him to get into an attacking position and score just inside the 18-yard box. Unfortunately, that lead didn’t last long were we conceded on the stroke of half time, going into a 1-1 draw at the break. The second half was a well contested battle between the two sides with a lot of chances for both teams to go into the lead. As time went on with St Mary on the counterattack, we couldn’t keep them out any longer with conceding 2 goals late making the score 1-3 to the visitors with the scoreline staying 1-3 as the final whistle blew. It was a fantastic effort from the boys in and were unlucky not to get a result to progress further in the cup. Well done to the boys
